Samsung and Coinbase Join Forces to Bring Crypto Access to Millions of Mobile Users
Coinbase now lets users fund accounts through Samsung Pay, rolling out as a new payment and deposit option for trading directly within the leading U.S. crypto app.
Samsung Pay Integration Lets Coinbase Users Fund Accounts Without Re-Entering Info
Samsung and Coinbase announced on July 29 that Samsung Wallet users can now access Coinbase’s cryptocurrency services using Samsung Pay, allowing direct funding and trading within the Coinbase app. The new integration enables users to purchase digital assets without switching applications or re-entering payment credentials. Samsung stated:
Coinbase also confirmed the rollout: “Starting this week, Coinbase users in North America can now use Samsung Pay directly in the Coinbase app to fund their crypto journey. With just a few taps, eligible users can move from interest to action – without needing to switch apps or re-enter payment information.”
The rollout will begin with select users in the U.S. and Canada over the next month, with full access expected shortly thereafter. Coinbase described the initiative as a bridge between ease of use and security: “This new integration brings together the convenience of Samsung’s trusted mobile wallet with Coinbase’s secure and intuitive platform, unlocking a smoother path to crypto for millions of mobile users across North America. Whether you’re diving in or doubling down, Samsung Pay makes buying crypto feel as easy as tapping to pay.”
Drew Blackard, senior vice president of mobile product management at Samsung Electronics America, framed the move as consistent with Samsung’s collaborative philosophy: “As we continue to expand the scope of services of Samsung Wallet, we’re staying true to our core belief that open collaboration with industry leaders will provide the best experiences for our users.” The executive added:
Samsung Wallet integrates digital payments, personal identification, and peer-to-peer transfers, backed by multilayered security features including biometric authentication, tokenization, and the Samsung Knox platform. Sensitive data is protected by an embedded secure element on the device.
