On August 15, according to the BBC, the UK Ministry of Defence confirmed that the Ukrainian military can use British weapons for self-defense on Russian territory. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence said that Ukraine has "clear rights of self-defense against Russia's illegal attacks... this does not rule out operations within Russian territory." "We have made it clear during the donation process that the use of equipment will comply with international law," they added. This policy means that British anti-tank missiles, artillery, armored vehicles, and other British weapons may appear on the Russian battlefield. However, the UK's "Storm Shadow" missiles will still be prohibited from being used outside of Ukraine. The British government previously stated that these long-range missiles can only be used in conflicts within Ukrainian territory.
