BlackRock Nears Bitcoin Top Holder Status as ETF Inflows Climb
BlackRock now controls 57% of Satoshi Nakamoto's estimated Bitcoin holdings via IBIT.
Bitcoin ETFs saw a record $667.44M in daily net inflows, with BlackRock leading gains.
BTC futures open interest surged to $70B, indicating strong institutional positioning.
BlackRock is on track to overtake Satoshi Nakamoto as the largest Bitcoin holder. The firm now holds the equivalent of 57 percent of the estimated 1.1 million Bitcoins attributed to Nakamoto. Continued ETF inflows, supported by rising investor confidence and Bitcoin’s price increase, have accelerated BlackRock’s holdings through its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).
U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs registered a daily net inflow of $667.44 million, marking the highest single-day inflow since May 2. This marked the fourth consecutive day of gains. BlackRock’s IBIT led the charge with $305.92 million in new capital, bringing its cumulative inflows to $45.86 billion.
Fidelity Sees Strong ETF Growth Amid Bitcoin Rally
Fidelity’s FBTC also experienced substantial activity, drawing $188.01 million in inflows during the same session. This brings the fund’s historical net inflows to $11.78 billion. The uptick confirms growing interest from institutional investors, many of whom appear to be shifting traditional assets toward Bitcoin.
Bitcoin traded as high as $107,108 during intraday trading before ending the session above $105,000. As of the latest update, BTC remained steady at $104,791, reflecting a 1.05 percent daily gain. This price movement, combined with market optimism, appears to be reinforcing the surge in institutional capital.
Open Interest Hits Annual High of $70 Billion
Total open interest in Bitcoin futures reached $70 billion, the highest level so far this year. This figure suggests that investors are not only entering the market but also maintaining positions with increased confidence. The trend reflects growing participation and suggests a strong demand outlook.
Should Bitcoin reach $150,000 soon, projections show BlackRock could have more Bitcoin than the founder by the coming summer. Investment strategists believe the outcomes could prompt financial institutions and advisors to boost the number of cryptocurrencies they hold which could change the current distribution balance.
