ZachXBT received a $150,000 reward from Arkham for accurately disclosing that Martin Shkreli is the creator of the DJT token.
The Arkham blockchain analysis platform has awarded $150,000 to blockchain detective ZachXBT, the first person to reveal that controversial businessman 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli is behind the DJT token related to Donald Trump on Wednesday.
"This reward has been claimed by ZachXBT. At 11:49 PM UTC, Zach submitted evidence confirming that Martin Shkreli created the $DJT token," Arkham wrote in a post on X.
"Thank you for participating in this reward," ZachXBT replied to the post.
Token DJT has been circulating this week as it is reportedly directly related to former US President Donald Trump, according to an unverified report by Pirate Wires. This rumor has caused DJT to increase by over 300% at one point on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Shkreli, a convicted securities fraudster, has endorsed an unverified story that DJT is the official token of the Trump campaign. He also challenged the cryptocurrency trader GCR with a $100 million bet on the legality of the DJT token, which Shkreli later claimed GCR had backed out of.
On Tuesday night, Arkham announced a reward of $150,000 for the first person to prove the identity of the creator of DJT, and renowned blockchain investigator ZachXBT responded.
Shortly thereafter, ZachXBT posted on X that Shkreli had sent him a direct message saying that he had created this token with “Barron,” apparently referring to former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump. However, there is no evidence that Barron Trump collaborated with Shkreli. Later that night, Shkreli admitted that he had created DJT in an X Spaces session that he organized.
Shkreli became famous and was called “Pharma Bro” in 2015 when, as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, he increased the price of an AIDS drug by over 5,000%, making it more difficult for many patients to access the medication. In 2017, Shkreli was sentenced to seven years in prison for securities fraud in a separate case, and he was released early in 2022.
Shkreli still insists that he can prove Trump's and/or his family's involvement in creating DJT, according to his tweet on Wednesday. Trump's campaign did not respond to The Block's request for comment on this issue.
The price of DJT has increased by 20.72% in the past 24 hours to trade at $0.01452 at the time of writing, according to data from GeckoTerminal.
