On May 30, Netflix announced the upcoming release of an 8-episode limited series titled "The Altruists" about the FTX scandal, produced by Higher Ground, the production company founded by former U.S. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. The series tells the story of two young idealists attempting to rapidly reshape the global financial system, who ultimately become embroiled in a conspiracy to embezzle approximately $8 billion. FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud, and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison was sentenced to 2 years. (The Block)
