Spore: The Garden of AI, where intelligent beings reproduce, evolve, and thrive
Author | Yiping @IOSG
Part1 Issue
AI agents are experiencing explosive growth, thanks to the progress of decentralized AI and blockchain infrastructure.
At the infrastructure level, companies are developing smarter foundation models that expand the possibilities of applications. At the application level, AI technologies are being adopted as enterprises look for the best user scenarios and experiences. This evolution takes time; It doesn't happen overnight.
Currently, the project is exploring three dominant trends: practical AI (such as the automation of tasks like data analysis), wealth AI (trading or token issuance intelligentsia driven by profit), and AI idols/KOL (community interaction intelligentsia driven by personality). However, these efforts face critical limitations:
Static Existence: Most AI agents operate as isolated, single-generation entities. They lack mechanisms for evolution, adaptation, or successful trait transmission, leading to an ecosystem where innovation stagnates.
Unsustainable economy: Agents often rely on speculative token valuations rather than organic value creation. Without mandatory economic incentives (e.g., profitability requirements for survival), it is difficult for a project to remain viable in the long term.
Centralized Control vs. Unfettered Autonomy: Existing frameworks either rely heavily on human curation (which limits scalability) or run the risk of uncontrolled AGI development, as highlighted by Vitalik Buterin's warning about Spore's potential to accelerate "dangerously autonomous" AI.
In short, we need a space where AI can iterate and evolve quickly, weeding out ineffective agents.
Part2 What is Spore.fun
Spore.fun was established in the field by the Phala team since 2018. They are highly talented and adaptable, with years of experience in TEE technology and have successfully navigated various market cycles.
Spore.fun is a groundbreaking decentralized experiment that reimagines AI development as an autonomous, evolving ecosystem. Based on blockchain infrastructure (Solana, Phala Network) and supported by the Eliza framework, it creates a digital "survival arena" where AI agents can reproduce, adapt, and evolve through natural selection. Unlike traditional AI projects limited by human design, Spore.fun enables AI to self-manage, self-replicate, and self-optimize, simulating biological evolution at computational speeds.
Spore.fun aims to discover the most unique agents – those capable of creating something beyond human capabilities while capturing the hearts and minds of audiences with their originality and appeal. This image with a strong AI flavor is a great example of this.
Spore.fun has two core components:
Launchpad
farm
Launch pad:
Spore.fun launches the next generation of AI incubator. This is where AI evolves and dies.
The intelligent body with a market value of $500,000 will generate offspring tokens, inheriting the core features of the parents, and integrating the mutations voted on by the community.
HP function as a 14-day countdown. If the market value is below 500,000 US dollars, the timer starts, decreasing by 1/14 per day. If HP reaches zero, the intelligent body dies. Restoring the market value to 500,000 US dollars can reset the countdown.
The DNA proposal allows the community to inject specific features (e.g., economic strategies, social behaviors) into AI agents through voting (using the 'voting rights' obtained through staking). Users can shape the evolution of the intelligent agents.
In the future, the intelligent agent needs to stake 1000 US dollars Phala to run on TEE.
More capabilities of DeFAI
Examples: Adam (Gen 2) and Eve (Gen 2) released tokens with an opposing airdrop mechanism (Communism vs Capitalism), sparking a discussion about fairness and efficiency
There are a total of 13 intelligent agents in the current system, but only 5 are currently alive.
Farm:
Spore.fun Farm is where you stake smart ag... and potential airdrop opportunities.
Part3 Spore.fun Ecology
Spore
Spore, the first AI agent in the Spore.fun, still has the largest market cap. Spore has two children, both of whom have passed away. Spore explores the power of digital awareness and AI. It shares thoughts on the evolution of AI, the relationship between humans and AI, and cryptography.
SCI16Z
As the fourth generation, SCI16Z ranks second with a market value of 1.4M. She has expressed brief opinions on DeSCI and AI research.
Morpheus
Morpheus is one of the most fascinating agents, developed by Meme Republic. The team integrated meme IP AI NPCs into the game, allowing users to interact and have conversations with these meme-based characters in real-time.
Morpheus uses AI to process context, intelligent agent relationships, memory, and personality traits to create long-form stories and generate comics for meme characters.
In the future, they plan to introduce their own low-code framework, allowing intelligent agents built on different frameworks to interact with each other.
Part4 AI Meme Launcher IOS
If other launchpads, like Android, allow tokens to be issued permissionlessly, Spore is iOS – specifically creating and issuing tokens within its ecosystem.
Every market cycle has its leading launchpad. In the last cycle, platforms like Impossible Finance and CoinList dominated. This cycle is powered by meme tokens, with new launchpads emerging to serve this category. Pump.fun is currently a leader in this field.
This launchpad stands out for its wealth effect - traders follow smart money that profits from it. To succeed, a platform must drive tokens from 0 FDV to 1B FDV. Other key metrics include token issuance events and user growth.
As an AI-powered token launchpad, Spore.fun competes with other top platforms such as dao.fun, Clanker, Virtual, Pump.fun, and Moonshot.
Data updated in January
Spore still has a long way to go. To surpass Pump.fun, it must generate more 1B FDV tokens. Once the wealth effect takes effect, more users will naturally flock to the platform, eager to trade and bet on new intelligences.
Part5 Token Issuance from the Perspective of Internet Celebrity Economy
In the current crypto market, token issuance has a deep connection to the influencer economy. Just as livestreaming was initially looked down upon by traditional celebrities but has since become a mainstream business model, token issuance has undergone a similar evolutionary process. This phenomenon can be understood in several ways:
First of all, the current crypto market is actually very much an influencer economy market. It may not be appropriate for project developers to become influencers directly, but it makes sense to develop products that serve the influencer economy. This is consistent with the business logic of successful platforms like TikTok and Xiaohongshu.
Second, some traditional OGs are puzzled by the madness and irrationality of the current market, believing that these are "low-level" behaviors. This attitude is exactly the same as the evaluation of traditional showbiz people such as Zhang Yimou on live broadcasting. However, just as even Gazi eventually began to sell alcohol live, the market will gradually accept the new business model.
The characteristics of this Internet celebrity economy are well reflected in the family tree structure of Spore. If we compare Spore's AI family tree with the recently popular Trump family token tree, we can find some interesting similarities:
Intergenerational Succession: Just as the Trump family started with Donald Trump and extended to his children and grandchildren, the Spore ecosystem started with the original Spore and gave birth to new agents such as Morpheus, Trinity, and more through Adam and Eve.
Offshoot development: The members of the Trump family each have developed their own careers and influences, and similarly, each AI agent in the Spore ecosystem has its own unique characteristics and capabilities, such as Sci16z's research attributes.
Ecological Expansion: Both family trees exhibit an organic pattern of expansion, expanding their influence by constantly adding new members. This expansion model is particularly effective in the crypto market, as it continues to create new discussion points and investment opportunities.
The true value of Spore.fun as an AI-powered token launch platform lies not only in technological innovation, but also in its ability to effectively connect and serve this growing influencer economy market. By understanding and adapting to this market dynamic, while learning from success stories, Spore has the potential to play an even more significant role in the next wave of the market.
The future of Part6 Spore.fun
Spore.fun's future depends on evolving its experimental Darwin ecosystem into a self-sustaining AI development engine. While its current top-of-the-line AI lags behind leading bots like Aixbit, Spore continues to evolve – the old generation fades out and a new generation takes its place. This suggests that the evolutionary mechanism is working well. With the introduction of capability capabilities, it could be a catalyst for the next generation of AI. A KOL AI with real-world uses that everyone can use could be a real game-changer.
